In warranty returns, zipper failure consistently outranks fabric wear. It is also the cheapest component to upgrade.

Specification basics

• Use nylon coil for flexible panels, metal for structured openings.
• Size #5 is the practical minimum for main compartments; #8+ for heavy loads.
• Specify brand-tested sliders rather than unbranded equivalents.

Test them

A simple reciprocating pull test will expose most substandard zippers before you commit to production. Ask your supplier for the test data.
